LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and is a technology which uses light to create 3-Dimensional information in the form of images. It generally consists of a laser, scanner and a specialized GPS receiver. Improvements on current imaging technologies allow a wider photo range, better resolution, and a much shorter time to process the images. Through the use of a semiconductor called indium gallium arsenide, the system would have higher power and thus a longer range for laser scanning. |
