LiDAR is new, efficient, as is able to produce results at a rate beyond human capacity. What does that mean for the average person though? Those that work primarily for factories are at risk of losing their jobs to a computer. Moreover, if this technology becomes popular, the costs of it will decrease significantly in years to come: making this more accessible to all members of society. Is 3-D imaging "on the go" going to be the new iPhone 4S?
LiDAR technology is still new and constantly being updated and improved with more use. However, the startup of a company and new products are always costly and time-consuming. Yes, LiDAR technology is able to analyze geological data much faster than the current methods. Yes, it is capable of forming 3-D objects such as cars more efficiently than the average plant. But what is the down-side to all of this? THE COSTS. To startup this technology would cost thousands, if not millions on a large-scale among the agriculture and technology sectors. Should government and investors really be funding this? Should the use of our tax dollars be compromised for THIS?
